The increasing demand for high-performance, environmentally friendly plastic materials has driven the development of new additives capable of improving the processing and mechanical properties of thermoplastic resins. Traditional plasticizers and processing aids often suffer from limitations such as poor compatibility, migration, bleeding, and insufficient durability, particularly in applications requiring flexibility, transparency, and long-term stability. At the same time, growing environmental concerns have encouraged the replacement of conventional materials such as phthalate plasticizers and PVC-based compounds with safer and more sustainable alternatives. To address these challenges, Toagosei developed ARUFON, a series of low-molecular-weight acrylic polymers produced using the Uniform Functional Oligomer (UFO) process. Owing to their controlled molecular structure and broad compatibility with various thermoplastic resins, ARUFON additives can function as plasticizers, processing aids, and dispersing agents for inorganic fillers. This paper examines the compatibility, modification effects, and practical applications of ARUFON in polymers such as PVC, ABS, PMMA, and polyolefin-based systems, highlighting its potential to improve flexibility, processability, filler dispersion, and overall material performance.
